Building a relationship with my clients

Some of my favourite tattoo sessions are with people I already know.

There is something very special about seeing a healed tattoo again - especially when a client returns months later for another piece. You already know each other, there is a certain trust and ease, and the whole process feels a little more personal.

Last October, Anne Kristine came to me for her first tattoo: a small Wabbeli with a star on her lower abdomen. When she returned this July, she had the idea of creating a second piece on the opposite side - similar to the first, but not exactly the same.

Together, we developed the design around her wishes. We paired an abstract line with the same little star she already had, creating a visual connection between the two tattoos while keeping each one individual. The result is almost symmetrical at first glance, but the small differences give each side its own character.

I was also happy to revisit her first tattoo. We made a few small touch-ups to the healed piece, which is one of the things I really enjoy about these return appointments. It is always nice to see how a tattoo has settled into the skin and, when needed, give it a little refresh.

Seeing clients come back, building on something we created together before, and watching their collection of tattoos slowly grow is something I genuinely enjoy. These sessions always feel especially relaxed and fun because we already know each other and have built a comfortable connection.

For me, tattooing is about more than a single appointment. I love the idea that a first tattoo can be the beginning of a longer creative relationship.
