How to take care of your tattoo
A little care goes a long way. A fresh tattoo is healing skin, so giving it the right conditions is an important part of the process. Everyone’s skin heals a little differently, but these are the steps I recommend for my tattoos.

At the end of your appointment, I cover your fresh tattoo with Second Skin; a thin, transparent protective film that protects the tattoo during the first days of healing. Unless you have had a negative or allergic reaction to it before, I recommend leaving it on for around 3–5 days. If it comes loose earlier, even directly after your appointment or the next morning, that is completely normal and nothing to worry about.
The easiest way to remove it is under a lukewarm shower, allowing the water to soften the film. Then gently rinse the tattoo with water only, pat it dry with a clean towel and leave it to breathe.
I recommend starting your tattoo cream from the third day after getting tattooed. Apply only a very thin layer - less is more. Your skin can heal the tattoo naturally on its own, while applying too much cream can keep the area overly moist, irritate the skin and create a more favourable environment for bacteria.
Continue applying a small amount of cream until the tattoo is fully healed, usually around 2–4 weeks, depending on the size and placement. Some peeling, dryness or mild itching during this time is completely normal.

While your tattoo is still healing, keep it out of direct sunlight and avoid swimming, bathing and saunas. Once it is fully healed, you can enjoy the summer as usual - just remember that sunscreen is your tattoo’s best friend.
Once your tattoo is healed, the best thing you can do is take care of your skin and protect the tattoo from excessive sun exposure. UV light can gradually fade tattoo pigments, so whenever your tattoo is exposed to the sun, I recommend using a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and reapplying it regularly.
And if you are ever unsure about how your tattoo is healing, please reach out. You can always send me a DM on Instagram with a photo. I am happy to have a look, give you my professional opinion and hopefully put your mind at ease. 🖤
